Alisha Ward, a former employee of the University of Louisville College of Business Equine Industry Program, pled guilty today in U.S. District Court to charges of wire fraud and money laundering.
Ward, 41, while working as a senior program consultant for the U of L program, embezzled $463,636.35 from her employer, according to a news release from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Kentucky.
The prosecution will seek a 37-month prison sentence and for Ward to pay restitution to U of L in the amount of $461,889.47, the release said.
Sentencing is scheduled for July 9.
The release said U.S. Judge Jennifer Coffman could impose a maximum sentence of 70 years in prison, a fine of $1.5 million and a three-year period of supervised release.
