A former federal prosecutor from welland is facing money laundering charges.
Lawyer Jeffery Root told an undercover R-C-M-P officer that he could get $10 million into a duffle or hockey bag.
On Tuesday a court in Welland heard how reitred Sgt. Ron Nicholson presented himself to Root as someone who was looking to move a substaitial amount of money, from the sale of cocaine.
In 2006 Root was on trial before Justice Linda Templeton who found Root not guily of five charges.
The Crown has since appealed the acquittal and the Court of Appeal has sent the issue back for a new trial on four of the five counts.
That decision was made in December 2008.
The trial continues Wednesday in front of Justice Harrison Arrell who is hearing the case alone without a jury
