WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Attorneys are hashing out jury instructions and preparing final arguments in the trial of a Kansas doctor and his wife accused of running a painkiller "pill mill" linked to dozens of overdose deaths.
A 34-count indictment charges Dr. Stephen Schneider and his wife, Linda, with unlawfully prescribing drugs, fraud and money laundering at their clinic in Haysville.
A federal court jury in Wichita has heard several weeks of testimony. After having the day off Monday, the jury is scheduled to return Tuesday to hear closing arguments and begin deliberations. Lawyers on Friday filed several motions arguing the wording of some of jury instructions.
