TUCSON, Ariz. —
Authorities say a southern Arizona man has been charged in a $1.4 million investment fraud.
A federal grand jury in Tucson returned a 31-count indictment Thursday against 44-year-old Philip Mark Cain. He lives in Corona de Tucson, which is south of Tucson.
Cain was arrested Feb. 25. He's accused of mail fraud, wire fraud and money laundering.
Prosecutors say Cain solicited funds from his clients to be invested in structured notes from Deutsche Bank, but instead deposited about $1.4 million funds into his bank accounts at JPMorgan Chase.
They say Cain withdrew client funds in checks or cashier's checks payable to himself or his family members between June 2008 and June 2010. He allegedly used the money to repair and sell 62 classic cars between October 2010 and last month.
