Santo Domingo.- The impresarios Luis Matos Mendoza and Kelvin Enrique Fernández Flácquer, who the authorities say are no longer being linked with the case of fugitives José Figueroa Agosto and Sobeida Félix, were sent to trial yesterday accused of money laundering.
Judge Delio Germán will hear the case against Matos and Fernández who are accused of violating Law 720-02 on asset laundering following the seizure of US$480,000 and RD$72,000.
At the same time, the judge acquitted them of criminal responsibility relating to violation of a number of articles in Law 50-88 on drugs and controlled substances.
The judge ruled to extend their incarceration since their arrest in December when the authorities conducted searches for the fugitives Félix and Figueroa.
The defense lawyers for the accused, Ingrid Hidalgo, Manuel García, Gustavo Mejía Ricart and Oscar Terrero had asked the court to annul the accusation presented by the state legal authorities.
