August 22, 2011- In 2010, the US Supreme court decided that corporations should have the right to donate unlimited amounts of money to American political campaigns.
But the rules surrounding the controversial Citizens United V. Federal Elections Commission decision are not being enforced, and Super PAC's are turning out to be nothing more than a way to legally launder money and buy political influence.
The new law allows Super PAC's to raise "virtually unlimited funds from individuals, corporations and labor unions as long as they remain "independent" of the campaigns," according to the New York Times. However, some websites are in clear violation of the rules.
One of the most obvious violators of the ‘independent' rule for Super PAC's is Make Us Great Again, which clearly supports republican presidential candidate Rick Perry.
Super Pac, Make Us Great Again, has Rick Perry's face all over the page. It is an obvious violation of the Citizens United law.
So far, no one has made an effort to stop Super PAC abuse.
