Belle Fourche man sentenced to more than 12 years in prison for drug-related money laundering operation
A man from Belle Fourche has been sentenced to 12 years and seven months in federal prison for a drug-related money laundering scheme.
Federal prosecutors say Turner Heinbaugh worked with others to take money from drug sales and then send the money through electronic payments to other co-conspirators in the United States and Mexico.
The money was generated through a meth operation in the Black Hills. All in all, investigators say Heinbaugh was responsible for transferring approximately $98,000 in drug money. Prosecutors say he also sold meth.
Heinbaugh pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit money laundering last year.
