A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria this morning adjourned till 4 April the trial of the former governor of Enugu State, Chimaroke Nnamani and 10 others.

The former governor and his co-accused have been standing trial over an alleged money laundering of N5.5 billion since 2007.

Today’s adjournment was sequel to the withdrawal of an application filed before the court by the prosecuting counsel of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Kelvin Usozie seeking the transfer of the case from the trial judge to another judge.

The defence counsel led by Ricky Tarfa, SAN, did not oppose the withdrawal of the said application.

Consequently, the application was struck out by Justice Charles Archibong.

Also standing trial with Nnamani are: A former Commissioner for Finance Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters and a consultant to the state.

Others are Rainbownet Nigeria Limited, Hillgate Nigeria Limited, Renascent Teaching Hospital, Meamatter Elizabeth High School and Capital City Automobiles.
