BUTTERWORTH: A former political secretary to a minister pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here yesterday to a charge of money laundering, involving RM2,134,656 last year.
Hasbie Satar, the former political secretary to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, was charged with having the money, from ill-gotten gains, at an apartment in Teluk Air Tawar, Butterworth, Penang on Feb 11, 2010.
Judge Mohd Zairan Aman set March 14 for mention and allowed Hasbie to be released on a bail of RM60,000 with two sureties. Deputy public prosecutor from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Anslen Charles Fernandis, prosecuted, while Hasbie was unrepresented.
