Around 8:00 this morning, investigators with the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Department and the Dougherty County District Attorney raided the convenience store at 2201 on the Liberty Expressway.

Ayaz Ahmed, one of the store’s owners, was working at the time of the raid and was arrested. Two others – George Bagain and Melanie Bagain – were arrested later at their Lee County home.

The indictments are part of an ongoing investigation dating back to 2009 when gambling machines were confiscated from the same store.

No trial date has been set but if convicted on all counts, the trio could be sentenced to life in prison.
