A married couple accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars and money laundering appeared at Supreme Court yesterday.
Financial advisers David and Antoinette Bolden allegedly siphoned off cash entrusted to them by private investors. Mr. Bolden, 47, and Mrs. Bolden, 45, are accused of dipping into company funds 18 times over a three-month period — taking as much as $40,000 at a time from their firm, Emerald Capital International Ltd.
Theft
They have previously pleaded not guilty to 19 counts of theft and five counts of money laundering.
The couple will now stand trial on May 9. They were released on bail until then.
Meanwhile, a trial date was also set for murder suspect Jermaine Pearman.
He will appear at Supreme Court on January 24.
The 36-year-old is accused of killing his estranged partner, Shakeya DeRoza, on July 10, 2009.
He denies the charges of premeditated murder and possessing a bladed article.
A sentencing date was also set yesterday for convicted drugs smuggler Lincoln Christopher.
Importing
Christopher, who was found with cannabis worth $40,000 in his luggage when he arrived in Bermuda, faces a lengthy prison sentence. He will be sentenced on January 20.
He previously admitted importing the drug into Bermuda.
Finally, shooter Quincy Brangman will re-appear at Supreme Court on January 11 for a sentencing date to be fixed.
He was convicted of opening fire at Nathan Darrell three times while he sat in a car in Kitchener Close, Sandys, last February.
Mr. Darrell, 23, was shot in the neck, chest and thigh but survived the attack and gave evidence against Brangman, of Sandys, during his trial.
