Two brothers affiliated with a Northwest Side merchandise distributor have been charged in an alleged money laundering and goods-fencing scheme involving more than $100,000 in stolen goods, authorities said.
Vijay Patel, 37, and his brother Ajay Patel, 36, were arrested last week in the 4900 block of North Pulaski Road after they bought household goods that officers said were stolen, police said. The brothers are affiliated with Advance Distributors, a discount goods warehouse in the Albany Park neighborhood, Smith said.
After both men are charged with felony theft and money laundering, Ajay Patel was released on bail.
