Three Georgia residents have been indicted in Richmond on federal charges of conspiracy, money laundering and passing counterfeit bills.
A grand jury indictment returned Tuesday charges that the three used counterfeit money to buy electronics and other merchandise at Target stores in the Richmond and Tidewater areas, then returned the goods for refunds in genuine currency. If convicted, they face up to 20 years in prison.
The defendants are 38-year-old Martin Maurice Lewis Jr., 21-year-old Nicole Lashawn Ware and 20-year-old Brittni Lashawn Fleming. Court records did not list their hometowns in Georgia or say whether they have attorneys.
