TWO women arrested in connection with an investigation into money laundering in Cork city yesterday have been released without charge.
Four people were arrested and questioned yesterday, one man and three women, in connection with the investigation into the laundering of tens of thousands of euro.
The four people, who were detained in stations across the city, are all members of one extended family, known to gardaí for having links to the drug trade.
Two of the women were released last night and a file is to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecution. Questioning continued of the other two suspects.
Up to 20 gardaí were involved in the investigation, which led to raids on a house at Kerryhall Road, Fair Hill and a second home on Blarney Road.
All four were detained under anti-drug trafficking legislation and can be held for up to seven days for questioning.
Two of the women are in their 20s, the man is in his 30s, and the third female is in her 50s.
They were being held at Gurranabraher Garda Station, Mayfield station and the Bridewell.
Gardaí said the arrests were part of an long-running investigation into the activities of a city drug dealing gang.
The investigation was assisted by the Criminal Assets Bureau, who joined local detectives and officers in the morning raid.
