A RUISLIP man has been arrested on suspicion of money laundering and possession of criminal property after ten of thousands of pounds cash was recovered by police.

The haul was estimated at between £40,000 and £50,000 when it was found in a white Transit van south of junction 3 of the M1 motorway by Hertfordshire Police, on January 22.

Officers from the constabulary's Operational Sentinel Intercept Team used a number plate activation device to uncover the cash haul.

It was seized as it suspected to be the profits of crime. A 27-year-old man was arrested and released on bail last week.

Sergeant Grant Finnie said: "We will continue to track down criminals using ANPR technology to deny them the use of the roads in Hertfordshire."

ANPR devices highlight suspicious vehicles by reading their number plate and checking it against local and national databases.

They are used to detect serious criminals including burglars, robbers, drug dealers and fraudsters.
