A Brooklyn man was sentenced Friday for money laundering through a Rochester company.
Michael Kardonic, 58, was found guilty for conspiracy to commit money laundering.
Attorneys say Kardonic was part of a scheme to defraud investors who had invested about $2.5 million in international currency, trading investments through the Rochester company Atwood and James SA.
They say he used mail and wire communications, using the investors’ proceeds to promote the scheme.
Kardonic faces 10 years in prison and is ordered to repay more than $2 million in restitution.
