CORDES JUNCTION -- Just after 10 a.m. last Sunday, Sept. 20, a DPS officer stopped a 2009-Toyota Avalon on driving southbound Interstate-17, in the Cordes Junction area.
After stopping the car for moving violations a narcotics canine alerted to the vehicle and during a search of the sedan, the DPS officer located a thick stash of cash. $23,880 in U.S. currency was seized along with drug paraphernalia in the trunk of the vehicle.
The driver and lone occupant, James Clark Dalton, 26, of Cody, Wyo., was arrested on money laundering charges. The money was seized and vehicle was returned to the rental agency.
