SANTO DOMINGO.- With the participation experts from 12 countries and multilateral organizations, Dominican Republic will host the “International Conference Against Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism” next May 5 and 6.
The event slated for the Bavaro Barceló Convention Center (east) aims to establish contact mechanisms between the participants and create a network of action and exchange of ideas, strategies, investigation mechanisms and direct routes to effectively prevent, detect and control the phenomenon.
Specialists from the UN, U.S., Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Colombia, Spain, Peru, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Panama and Ecuador will debate on money laundering, financing of terrorism, the casinos, insurances, and underwriters, as well as and tax havens, banks and other financial aspects.
Speaking to the press in the capital Santo Domingo, event organizer Alejandro Rebolledo, publisher of the website antilavadodedinero.com, warned that money laundering has expanded in the last few years.
