The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed the bail granted to Pune base Stud Farm owner Hasan Ali Khan, accused in various money laundering cases, by the Bombay High Court till Thursday.
A bench of Justice Altamas Kabir, Justice Cyriac Joseph, and Justice Surinder Singh Nijjar today stayed the release of Ali after Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Harin Rawal appearing for the Enforcement Directorate (ED) made a mentioning seeking stay of the high court order of August 12 granting bail to Hasan Ali.
“Let the matter be listed on Thursday. In the meantime, order of Bombay High Court of August 12 on bail shall not be given effect to,” the bench observed.
ASG Harin Rawal also contended before the court that Hasan Ali has huge amount of money
to the extent of US 800 million dollars with a bank outside India. He also alleged link of Ali with international arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi.
The bench after hearing the submission of the ASG, granted stay on the High Court order till Thursday, when it will take the matter for hearing.
Earlier on August 12, the Bombay High Court had granted bail to Hasan Ali.
Hasan Ali Khan was arrested in Mumbai on the 7 March 2011 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. He has also been accused of forging documents to acquire multiple passports.
