Cardinal Attilio Nicora, currently president of the administration of the patrimony of the Holy See, or APSA, will oversee the new authority, which was created at the end of last year to crack down on money laundering and terrorism finance throughout the Vatican Bank. The agency’s mission goes into effect April 1, and it will be able to investigate and prosecute violators in accordance with Vatican law.
