A detective constable has resigned from Sussex Police after admitting laundering more than £80,000 over five years.
Detective Constable Darren Graysmark pleaded guilty in court last week to six charges. A date for his sentencing has not yet been set.
An investigation into Graysmark began after his partner, Darren Simpson, was found with 3kg of cocaine, valued at £148,000, in his car.
A further £12,000 cash and financial documents were found in the home they shared.
Deputy Chief Constable Giles York of Sussex Police said: “Darren Graysmark let himself, his colleagues and the public down, in knowingly benefiting from organised crime. He took money which was the proceeds of crime and used it to support his own lifestyle.
“As soon as our detectives found out, immediate action was taken to arrest him and seize his assets.
“Our response to this isolated example of police criminality sends a clear message that there is no tolerance in the police service for criminal activity by anyone who works for us. The public must expect more of Sussex Police.”
Graysmark initially maintained he had no knowledge of any criminal activity, but indisputable evidence saw him admit the offence.
Simpson pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to possession of cocaine with intent to supply.
