GUATEMALA - A drug trafficking gang that was operating between this capital and Panama was dismantled with the arrest of 32 of its 45 estimated members.
The Prensa Libre newspaper gave more details of that group that was moving drugs and money around and killing people.
Among the people arrested are the so-called mules, lawyers and attorneys that for more than four years were carrying money to Panama in exchange for drugs to distribute here.
Many of its main leaders, like the finance and operation coordinator, were arrested after an investigation started early this year by the Public Ministry, according to the report.
Enquiries establish that about 400 people were hired by that criminal organization for its transactions in Guatemala and Panama with tickets provided by a travel agency owned by the gang.
The alleged crimes include the trade, traffic and illegal storage of drugs, illegal associations, money laundering, conspiracy to commit murder and international drug trafficking, among others.
