A federal jury has acquitted the former head of the Rock Island County Council on Addictions on all, but one charge.
Tom Schroeder of Port Byron was acquitted on charges of conspiracy to commit money laundering and mail fraud. He was found guilty of conspiring to impede the I.R.S.
Schroeder and former University of Louisville Education Dean Robert Felner were accused in a scheme to bilk two universities and R.I.C.C.A out of more than $2 million. Felner pleaded guilty.
Schroeder maintained his innocence throughout the trial. The Courier-Journal in Kentucky reports Schroeder is scheduled to be sentenced on December 14th.
