A Utica man accused of embezzling more than $1 million from several area businesses is arrested in Muskingum County.
The Licking County Sheriff's Office reports that around 10 a.m. Friday, 43-year-old Mark Cherubini was arrested on State Route 586 by Muskingum County Sheriff's deputies and Licking County detectives.
A Licking County Grand Jury indicted Cherubini Thursday on several charges including aggravated theft, money laundering and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.
The charges stem from an investigation that began in November of 2010 into the theft of money from three Licking County businesses.
Authorities say for about the past 10 years Cherubini has embezzled and defrauded these companies of around $1.5 million.
Cherubini is being held in the Licking county Justice Center.
