KATHMANDU: The meeting of the Legislature-Parliament on Tuesday approved the bill on money laundering prevention and bill on caste-based discrimination and untouchability.

The meeting unanimously approved the bill (first amendment), 2011 presented by Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari along with the report prepared by the Legislation Committee.

Similarly, the bill on caste discrimination and untouchability (crime and punishment), 2011 presented by Minister for General Administration Yub Raj Karki on the behalf of Local Development Minister Urmila Aryal was unanimously approved by the meeting.

Prior to this, Finance Minister Adhikari responded to queries on the proposals raised by the legislators attending the meeting.

"The bills were introduced with a view to controlling investment in terrorist activities and to address the issues related to anti-money laundering as per the international commitments", he said.

Sunil Prajapati of Nepal Workers' and Peasants' Party called for making the definition of terrorists more clear.

At the meeting, Speaker Nemwang read out the letter received from the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Minister confirming assignment of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Upendra Yadav to look after the portfolio of the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies as well.
