4 men charged with fraud, money laundering
Jun.15, 2010, 2:57 pm
Four men face mail fraud and money laundering charges in what prosecutors say was a $3.3 million scheme to bilk investors and loan-seekers.
Forty-seven-year-old attorney Chan Masselink of Sioux Falls, founder of Falls Mortgage, has pleaded not guilty.
Also charged are bankruptcy lawyer Tom Pokela of Sioux Falls; Ken Cahill of Liberty, Iowa; and Wesley Austin of Madison. They have not yet entered pleas.
The four incorporated in 2007 as CWTK, an investment vehicle for a biofuels and agriculture operation. Authorities allege it was a front for a company designed to defraud investors.
People named in the indictment as victims are from Georgia, Nevada, Arkansas, California and Texas.
