As you may have suspected, there was more to President Lu Hardin’s sudden resignation from Palm Beach Atlantic University than just wanting to spend more time with his family.

Hardin pleaded guilty Monday morning on one count of each of wire fraud and money laundering for incidents that took place while he was president of the University of Central Arkansas. He could face up to 30 years in prison, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports..

Attorneys say he received $200,000 in improper bonuses while he was at the university. He left the university under the cloud of the investigation in 2008, and Palm Beach Atlantic University hired him in 2009. We’ll update you as we know more.
