A Buffalo man was charged with distribution of fentanyl causing death, money laundering and other drug charges after an individual died in September 2023, the United States Attorney’s Office announced Monday.
Kenneth Shoemaker, 50, was also charged with distribution of fentanyl, crack cocaine and cocaine, and maintaining a drug-involved premise.
Officials said on Sept. 23, Shoemaker had fentanyl, which resulted in the death of the individual, who was identified as E.I. He also allegedly sold fentanyl, crack cocaine and cocaine using a residence on Sweet Avenue in Buffalo.
To disguise the profits of his drug trafficking, Shoemaker also made financial transactions at nearby banks to move his money from one bank to another, the district attorney’s office said.
The charges Shoemaker faces carry a maximum penalty of life in prison.
