BERGEN COUNTY — Two New York men stand accused of laundering more than $150,000 in cash through Bergen County, according to authorities.
Luis Hernandez-Perez, 22; and Jose Perez-Perez, 19; were charged with money laundering after officers found the cash hidden in a compartment inside of the former's Toyota SUV in Leonia, police said in a complaint.
Both of the Rochester men were pulled over on I-95 North for allegedly speeding, tinted windshield(s) and improper lane change, and were detained after a police dog detected a narcotics odor, an affidavit said.
A search of the Toyota Highlander, authorized through a warrant, revealed the cash, and the out-of-staters were arrested and then released pending initial court appearances, reports and Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
